This is one of the strangest stories I have heard. A 33 year-old man was charged with yawning in a court room during proceedings, and was sentenced with six months in jail. The man, Clifton Williams, was attending the trial of his cousin, when he yawned in court. The judge viewed it as a disturbance, and charged him with contempt of court. Mr. Williams denies it was an attempt to disrupt the proceedings, and stated it was, “not an outrageous yawn”.
There is possible good news for Mr. Williams, as he goes before the judge today, and may be freed if he apologizes to the judge, and the judge accepts the apology. For Mr. Wlliams sake, he better apologize like he never has before!

It is easy to look at this and think this is extreme and nuts. However, Mr. Williams may have been trying to disrupt the court. It is just as likely he needed to yawn. Whatever the case may be, I imagine many people will be more careful what bodily functions they perform in the court of law.
