If you simply cannot wait for October 22nd to purchase Windows 7, then you may want to take the risk and visit EBay, where you can now purchase Windows 7 at a reduced price. A copy of Windows 7 Ultimate was found for $167.50 on Sunday, with Windows 7 Professional found for $132.50. A detailed search will yield multiple sellers for multiple versions of Windows 7. Official prices from Microsoft for Windows Ultimate run for $319, while Windows Professional runs for $299.
Buyers on Ebay are offering both retail boxed versions and registration keys for those with previously downloaded versions. The problem here is Microsoft may not honor the registration of those who purchase Windows from vendors who sell it early, meaning someone may purchase Windows to find it a non-working brick within 30 days. To make matters more interesting, it may be illegal for online vender’s to sell Windows early, so there may be lawsuits or criminal action on these Ebay vendors for releasing Windows 7 for sale.
The best advice here is to wait until Windows 7 is officially released and save yourself the headache and experience of dealing with possibly tainted software. Patience often leads to the best rewards.
