Many people on the right and the left are foaming at the mouth over the current health care bill. Many people get their facts from television news shows, blogs, and talk radio. The simple truth is these sources have agendas, as most pick a side to support. How then, can you be sure you are hearing correct information? I am afraid these is only one solution for you: to read the bill yourself.
I understand the difficulty of this. For one, the bill is around 1,036 pages long. In order to gain an idea what is in the bill, you need to read every page. This could take days or weeks for some people to do. I also understand people are busy and have lives. This is why they go to their favorite nightly news anchor or blog to get “facts”. Ask yourself this question: can you trust the source your listening to will give 100% factual information without bias nor opinion? If you answered yes, then keep watching your news, and void yourself of personal responsibility, for you are brainwashed.
It is time to be honest. I have not read the bill myself. I decided today I would begin reading the bill. It may take me days or weeks, but it is something I plan to do. As of right now, I dislike the idea of governmental health care. I feel the government is not very responsible with money, and has difficulty running most programs. To me, I feel the government would do a poor job. The major complaint I have is the cost. How will it be paid for? We are so bankrupt right now that I do not think we can handle public health care.
However, I have not read the bill, so what worth is my opinion? My opinion is made up of beliefs I hold, as well as pieces of information I have heard. This is why I need to read the bill, so I can get a better idea of what is within it. The sad truth is I imagine most people have not read one page of the bill, let alone the entire bill. I imagine this goes for all those people in the media commenting on the bill.
I ask you read the bill so you learn more. Do not left the media tell you what to think. Think for yourself. This is what I plan to do.
