During last evening’s speech before congress and the nation, President Obama was heckled by Joe Wilson, who screamed out, “You Lie!” when Obama stated illegal immigrants would receive no coverage under his health care plan. It does not matter if you agree or disagree with Joe Wilson; this was rude and should not be tolerated. During speeches to congress, it is against standards for anyone to heckle or state comments during the presidents speech. It does not matter the president; it is something that is not heard of. Joe Wilson may have felt it was his right to make this statement; however all he has done is damage his own argument.
There is a possibility President Obama was lying during his speech. That I cannot dismiss, as politicians appear to lie often. It does not matter if you feel President Obama was lying; what matters is how you respond. If Joe Wilson was rational, he would have waited until after the speech to make these statements; and if he was really smart, to present proof to back up his statement. Joe Wilson, however, decided to let emotion rule over judgement, and opened his big mouth. Now many people who were on the fence view President Obama as the victim, and Joe Wilson and by extension Republicans and Conservitaves at nut jobs. Good going there, keep it up, you moron.
This is not a good thing, as it shuts down debate. Instead of rational discussion we have people who make idiots of themselves. Joe Wilson is getting his rewards for his stupidly; his rival, Rob Miller, has received a huge boost in his campaign contributions as a result of Joe’s stupidly. Does this mean Joe Wilson should be impeached, no. It does mean people should remember this at election time next year.
This is why I am so sick of politics. I understand people feel passionate about issues, that is fine. However, passion without control is deadly. I have many questions myself over this health care plan, and I am not convinced it would work, but I am not going to make a complete ass of myself to prove a point. Thanks to you, Joe, Democrats have another feather in their cap. In the end, this just reminds me, both parties are the same.
