Communism At Work

Last week I wrote an article on Psychcomp.com regarding the Empire State Building displaying the Chinese colors on the 60th anniversary of Communism in China. In the past five days, I have had over 4,000 visitors from Taiwan try to access this article. At the beginning I would have bursts of 200-300 visitors every 3-4 hours, as direct traffic to this one article. I tried to determine where this traffic came from, but I could not figure it out. I decided to use Google Analytics to determine if I could find a source of this unknown traffic. What was odd, was there visitors had a 100% exit rate, and would visit no other pages or vote in the poll. This again was odd, as real people usually visit other pages and vote in polls. I was somewhat puzzled as to what this unknown traffic was, and was becoming concerned. The traffic was averaging to around 800 visits a day.

I decided to take a more detailed look within Google Analytics, especially at the map section. As I looked around, I saw over 4000 visitors from Taiwan had tried to access my article, with a 100% exit rate from all attempts from Taiwan. The average time for each visit was one second. From all the information gathered, I can only conclude these visitors are being fire walled, and are booted from my site when they try to access the article. It seems the Chinese Government does not think well of my article, and have blocked it from access. No visits from China were recorded for my blog. It seems, someone in Taiwan heard of my article, and linked it to many locations in the country. The sad truth, no one has seen my article in Taiwan, and most likely never will.

The bigger picture is freedom of speech. Imagine living in a country where you had no freedom of speech. Imaging having to watch every word you spoke, every thing you said and did, and everything you typed, as to not offend the government. This is reality in Communist China, if not, explain the firewall. I am 100% sure many sites are being blocked by the Chinese Firewall, affecting millions of people. Ask yourself this; is this the society you wish to live in? You may think that will never occur in the US, however I see many people out there who are not afraid of Communism, and I also see those who embrace it. If the government controls your speech, they control you. If you are in the way, you die. If you do not do as you are told, your family dies. Is this what you want for your children? Remember, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I feel sorry for the people in Communist countries, who have to live in fear and oppression. I just fear it is in my children’s and grandchildren’s future in the United States. If this wave of Communist support is not stopped, you will learn to live in it, at the barrel of a gun.
